We are so thankful for our 11 drawer microfilm cabinet, three office chairs and microfilm reader table. We also appreciate society members, Danny Phillips and Pat Carver who transported the items from Little Rock to Malvern.
On September 12, 2016 an oil painting by Paralee C. Buckner Maddry was donated to the Society. The painting is believed to have been painted in the later half of the 1880s and is of the Ouachita Falls Lumber Co sawmill that was located on the east bank of the Ouachita River at Rockport. Seated (left-right) are Marjorie Nowalk; Betty Ingram and Mary Petrarca, granddaughters of the artist's sister-in-law, Fannie Maddry-Williams. Standing (left-right) are Gerald W. Williams and Mary Evelyn Lawrence (Society Board Members), Frank Petrarca (son of Mary Petrarca), Kelsey Irwin (granddaughter of Marjorie Nowalk) and Karen Petrarca (daughter of Mary Petrarca). Prior to the donation Frank had the painting professionally cleaned and appraised.

Pictured above are a commemorative plate, cup and saucer that were donated by Betty Ingram. They were made in Germany for Augustus W. Brassler Sr. who sold them in his store, Brassler's Jewelry, Malvern, Arkansas. The images on the plate and saucer are of the old Malvern Court House (1888-1936). The image on the cup is of the Malvern Public School that was on School Street in Malvern (1898-1927). A. W. Brassler was born April 1, 1869 and died July 1, 1923. Thank you Betty for these wonderful gifts.
We are very pleased and thankful for our new research library bookshelves.

This 2004 Limited Edition Christmas Ornament was donated to the Society by Deborah Marie Rondeau. The old Malvern High School is pictured on the ornament. Thank you Deborah.
The 2015 Heritage are in and are being processed for pickup and mailing. Articles and historical photos as well as pedigree charts and genealogies are welcomed for either publication or for preservation to be used for research or future publications.
Thank you Hot Spring County Development Corporation and Malvern Rotary Club for the very nice "Free Parking" lot. The parking lot is across the street from the Hot Spring County Historical Society Heritage House and between "Lawyer Row" and the Malvern Daily Record.
The Hot Spring County Historical Society received three boxes of research materials from the Arkansas History Commission. The materials will be cataloged and placed in the Society's research library. The Society is very thankful to the Arkansas History Commission for this donation, and to Paul Adcox for going to Little Rock to pick up the materials.
New Donations - At the March 2, 2015 meeting, Jim and Holly Houpt donated a very nice flag pole and stand to the Society. They reported that State Senator, Alan Clark will be donating a United States flag which will be displayed on the new flag pole. They also presented an Arkansas Flag donated by Ken Bragg, State Representative, District 15.
March 2, 2015 - Vice President / Program Director, Kinney Black presented the Benefactor Certificate of Appreciation to James Wetherington for his contribution of $1000.00 to the Society. Thank you James for your support of the Hot Spring County Historical Society.
April 7, 2014 - President, Mary Evelyn Lawrence presented the Patron Certificate of Appreciation to Vice President, Kinney Black for his contribution of $500.00 to the Society. Thank you Kinney for your support of the Hot Spring County Historical Society.
The Hot Spring County Historical Society received another generous donation of research materials for our Genealogy/Local History Library from our sister genealogy organization "The Melting Pot" in Hot Springs. We are in the process of cataloging the items and they will be available to the public for Genealogical research soon. We are in the process of re-shelving all our materials after the recent renovations made to the flooring. Thanks to Gerald Williams and Paul Adcox for going by and picking up the items and bringing them to The Hot Spring County Historical Society's facility "The Heritage House".
